Solar Hot Water

Use the surplus energy from your solar system to heat your water. No need for shore power or to start the engine.

On any boat with solar panels, in summer your batteries will usually be full by noon and the electricity generated during the rest of the day is discarded and therefore wasted. Our solution is that you install our system based on a purpose designed intelligent controller linked to the domestic batteries and a replacement water heating element. If the battery voltage is greater than 12.6v and the water temperature under 42 and not over 50°C, the controller switches on the heating element. It turns it off again if the voltage falls below 12.2v.  You need at least 300w of solar panels. Less than that and the battery drain is too great.

12v for boats with solar systems <600w 

You install our 12v intelligent controller with a fuse between it and your domestic batteries. It is then connected to a 12v 300w replacement heating element. This does take longer than the old 1000w heating element, but the system continues to use the engine heat exchanger and when you are on shore power, there will always be enough battery voltage. The major benefit is that you have hot water all the time without running the engine and without shore power. Long stays at anchor, or alongside, no longer need mean a loss of comfort.

220v for boats with solar systems >600w 

You install our 220v intelligent controller with a fuse between it and your domestic batteries. It is then connected first to an inverter and then to a 220v 900w replacement heating element. This takes almost exactly the same time to heat the water, and the system continues to use the engine heat exchanger and when you are on shore power, there will always be enough battery voltage. The major benefit is that you have hot water all the time without running the engine and without shore power. Long stays at anchor or alongside no longer mean a loss of comfort.
